Diabolical Masquerade

Diabolical Masquerade is a one man project by Katatonia guitarist Anders Nyström. The music he creates is Black Metal, but he draws on many varied influences, most of which show on the album Death's Design, which rather than being a conventional album is separated into 61 individual tracks, each grouped together into 20 movements. All in all a brilliant project: highly recommended.

Updatin' Blues

I've been meaning to update for a while, but I really don't have anything I'd like to update. In any case, I have some rough classes coming up, so I'm going to have to focus on school a lot for the next 9 weeks. I won't have time to upload to this blog like I want to. After that 9 weeks is up, however, I intend to come back and really get down and dirty with this page.

Hexen II (and its predecessors Heretic and HeXen: Beyond Heretic) are a Doom-style shooter set in a dark and magical world. The soundtracks reflect that. Although my genre-defining skills still need to be refined, I believe it to be some mutant form of very ambient Symphonic Black Metal (although the metal part is QUITE up for debate). In any case, I find it to be an enjoyable experience in dark music, and a must have for any gamer who is a fan of music as well.

*Note* I converted the tracks from m4a to mp3, for convenience. However, the information may have gotten scrambled in the conversion. The tracks have no names, and as far as I know, no particular order matters.

The First of Many

I'm going to start this off with a Metalocalypse quote, just so I know for sure we're getting off on the wrong foot in the opposite direction:

"This Mess Is A Place" - William Murderface (Tattoo)

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, I can end this first post.
